Many of you know our colleague, Amy Small, Continuing Lecturer, for her many years of teaching excellence and dedicated service to UCSB’s EMS Program. But did you also know that she has been active for 25 years in the field of interpreting and translating?
Now, Amy has earned her certification from the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI), the highest certification for medical interpreters and translators in the United States.
“There is a huge need for qualified medical interpreters today in all languages,” says Amy. About the exam itself, she describes it as “formidable.” How does she feel about earning this new distinction? “I’m pretty happy about that,” she says.
Congratulations, Amy!
