Dr. Marie Webb publishes co-edited book Radical Inclusivity: Critical Language Awareness in the Language and Writing Classroom (2025)
This book blends theory and practice to share the hows and whys of implementing radical inclusivity in the language and writing classroom. It is designed to provide teachers and graduate students with a theoretical background and practical activities that can be integrated into language teacher education, as well as writing and language classrooms.
EMS instructor Dr. Marie Webb co-edited the book and wrote Chapter 4 “Radically Inclusive Teaching: A Lesson Utilizing the Learning about Written Languages (LaWL) Approach.” Her chapter features a lesson from her EMS Linguistics 3C course in which students learn about the origins of social justice and ethics-related vocabulary. Students culminate their learning about current conversations of critical language awareness in a collaboratively written, source-based podcast. Dr. Webb also co-wrote the book introduction “Critical Incidents in the Classroom: Realizing CLA and Radical Inclusivity intersections" and the afterward titled, "Moving Forward with Shared Understanding and Responsibility."
