Ingrid Bowman receives the Swales & Feak Travel Award, Consortium on Graduate Communication (CGC), Summer Institute, June 2025.
Ingrid’s demonstrated commitment to graduate education was awarded this year with a travel scholarship to participate in the in-person, three-day, CGC Summer Institute at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Consortium provided professional development sessions in small group format for over 100 dedicated graduate educators. Coming from Canadian and U.S. institutions of higher education, participants exchanged ideas and academic resources to improve their teaching of written, oral and multimodal graduate communication. Ingrid gathered inspiration to incorporate into her teaching of two graduate writing courses (Ling 2G & Ling 3G), as well as into her position as the Chair of the Graduate Entry Level Placement in English (ELPE) exam.
