ENGLISH LANGUAGE PLACEMENT EXAM (ELPE)


GRADUATE STUDENTS

The English Language Placement Exam (ELPE) for graduate students is required of all incoming international students whose first language is other than English. Some international graduate students are exempt from this exam if the student has completed their entire undergraduate degree at an approved English medium institution. Exemptions are determined by the Graduate Division and are made available to the EMS Program by mid-July.

GRADUATE ELPE  

DATE: Wednesday, September 18, 2019

TIME: 9:00AM - 11:00AM

LOCATION: GIRVETZ 1004

 

Please make sure to arrive to the exam location by 8:30am for check in. You will need to bring the following to the exam:

            1) Your UCSB Access Card (or photo identification AND your perm number)

            2) A pen and/or a pencil

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

The English Language Placement Exam (ELPE) is offered to undergraduate international students that have not yet satisfied the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR). Information on ELWR can be found here: https://www.ucop.edu/elwr/.

TIME: 9:00AM - 11:00AM

LOCATION: Assigned by last/family name as follows:

                     A-L: Chemistry 1179

                     M-V: Buchanan 1940

                     W-Z: Buchanan 1910
